Two sides of Cap Bon in one day. Hammamet is the sea: a compact whitewashed medina right on the water, and the kasbah ramparts above the fishing boats. Nabeul is the workshop: the pottery town of Tunisia, where you meet the artisan, follow the clay from wheel to glaze — and sit down to shape your own piece where the workshop offers it; then the artisan quarter and the spice market, and, as an option, a harissa producer: UNESCO listed harissa’s knowledge and practices as intangible cultural heritage in 2022, and tasting it where it is actually made explains why.
